Collection of general data

With each access to this service, data is gathered automatically by us or the webspace-provider. This information, also called server log files, is of general nature and cannot be used to identify you personally.

Leaving Comments / authoring content

If you leave comments or author other content on this website, we store the IP-address, the username or name, email address, the IP address, as well as the date and time of submission.
We collect these for security reasons, because the provider may be held responsible for non-lawful content (such as illegal propaganda, insults, etc.), even if created by a third party. In such cases this data serves to determine the identity of the author.

Storage of the IP address

Our system stores the IP address of the user who submits a comment / author content.  We need this Data in the case that the author broke any laws, such posting insults or propaganda,  so that appropriate actions can be taken against the author.

Storage of the email address

Our system stores the email address of the user who submits a comment / author content.  We need this data, so that if the comment authors ever contacts us about their comments/content, we can use the email address to verify that they are indeed the author.

Duration of storage for comments or content

Your comments, or content, and the data that is connected with your them (for example the IP address) are stored and will remain on our website, until the content commented upon is deleted, or until the comment/content itself is deleted, for example if it violated any laws ( such as insulting comments), or at our discretion.

Basis of law

The storage of the comments/content and associated data happens on the basis of the your given agreement ( article 6.1 of the EU GDPR).  You can always cancel your previously given agreement regarding any specific comment/content.  To do so, a request via email will suffice, as long as your email address matches that stored with the specific comment/content.  After that, the comment/content would be removed.  Any processing of your data that has already happened prior to your cancellation is unaffected and remains lawful.

If you contact us using the online form or using email, we store the information provided by you, as to answer or process your request.

Embedding services and content from third parties

Our service may include content and services from other providers.  For example, this may be maps provided by google-maps, video from YouTube, or graphics and images from other webpages.  In order for this data to be accessed and displayed in the user’s browser, it is necessary to transmit the IP-address.  These providers (called “third-party providers” from now on) may therefore be aware of the IP address of the user.

Even while trying to use only third-party providers who use the IP-address solely for the purpose of delivering content, we have no influence over if and how the IP-address may be stored.  This may happen, amongst others, for statistical purposes.  Whenever we are aware that the IP address is being stored, we will notify our users.

Notice regarding data-transfer to the USA

This website uses tools and services from companies that are located in the USA.  Whenever such tools or services are active, your personal data may be transferred to a US-based server from the respective company.  We advise that the US is not a secure third-party state in the sense of EU privacy laws.  US based companies are required to hand over personal data to law enforcement agencies, without allowing a way for you, if you were affected, to take any legal action against this.

It cannot be ruled out that US authorities (for example intelligence agencies) may, for surveillance purposes, process, evaluate, and permanently store any of your data that is stored on a US based server. We do not have any influence over such data processing activities.

Cookies

This webpage uses so called cookies.  These are small text files, which are stored by the server on your computer.  Cookies serve primarily two purposes:  They help us to make it easier for us to navigate through our services, and allow for the correct display of this website.  They are not used to install viruses or start up programs.

In order to display our content in all browsers correctly and graphically appealing, we use various script libraries and font libraries, such as for example google Webfonts (https://www.google.com/webfonts/).  To avoid reloading, Google Webfonts are transferred into your browser’s cache.   If your browser does not support Google Webfonts or rejects them, content will be displayed with alternate fonts.

The use of script libraries or font libraries automatically entails a connection to the provider of the library.   It is theoretically possible, albeit it is currently no clear, if or for what purposes, the provider of such libraries may collect data.

Embedded YouTube Videos

On some of our pages we may embed YouTube videos.  Provider of the respective plugins is YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA.  If you visit a page with a YouTube video, a connection is created to the servers of YouTube.  This informs YouTube which sites and pages you are visiting. If you are logged into your YouTube account at that moment, then YouTube can connect your surfing activity with you personally.  You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account beforehand.

If you start a YouTube video, the provider uses cookies that collect data about the user’s activity.

If you disable cookies for the Google Ad-Program, then you should not expect any such cookies while watching YouTube videos.   However, YouTube also stores non personal usage data in other cookies.  If you want to prevent this, then you have to block the storage of cookies in your browser.

On our website you will find buttons form known social media sites. If you press on the button, you will be transferred to the respective social media network, and at the time data may be transferred, for example but not limited to: The address of the website where the respective button is located, date and time when you accessed the website or activated the button, information about the browser you use as well as the operating system, your IP Address.

We do not have influence on the amount of data that Facebook collects using their methods.  It can be assumed, though, that Facebook will get the information, that you used a page on our site.  If you are logged in as a member at Facebook, Facebook will assign this information to your personal user account. Likewise, if you use SeinQuest’s Facebook fan page as a logged in member, Facebook will collect and track your activity, and may store cookies in your browser.  If you use a Facebook plugin (for example by clicking on the “like-button”) this information will be assigned to your Facebook account. We do not have influence on Facebook’s collection of data, and the only way you can prevent it being linked to your personal Facebook account is by logging out of Facebook prior to clicking, or activating, or using a Facebook button, and clearing any of Facebook’s cookies prior and after visiting their pages, or not using their site.

Social Media: Twitter

If you are logged in as a member of Twitter, a so called "tweet" may get created in your account, which may refer to our webpage.  Your Twitter data may be visible to any third parties that can read your tweets.  We do not have influence on the amount of data that Twitter collects using their methods.  If you are logged in as a member at Twitter, Twitter will assign this information to your personal user account.  Likewise, if you are a logged in user at Twitter, and you visit SeinQuest’s Twitter page, your interaction with that page will be Tracked by twitter and assigned to your personal account, and Twitter may store cookies in your browser.  We do not have influence on Twitter’s collection of data, and the only way you can prevent the information being linked to your personal Twitter account is by logging out of your Twitter account prior to clicking or activating or using a Twitter button, and clearing any of Twitter’s cookies prior and after visiting Twitter, or not using their site.

Minimization of Data

In accordance with the laws and guidelines about the minimization of data, we only store data for as long as it is needed or required by law (statutory retention period).  Once there is no longer any reason for the collected data, or the statuar period ends, we either block or delete the data.

Children.

SeinQuest does not sell products for purchase by children. We may sell children's products for purchase by adults. If you are under 18, you may use this Site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

User’s rights: Information, correction, and deletion

As a user, you can receive by request a free report on what personal data pertaining to you is stored; exceptions to this are:  stored data needed to conduct business or data that is subject to statutory retention. As long as your request does not conflict with any statutory retention period as required by law, you have the right to the correction of incorrect data and to the blocking or deletion of your personal data.

Changes to our privacy policy

To ensure that our privacy policy may always be in compliance with the latest guidelines and laws, we reserve the right to make changes at any time.  This also applies to the case, that this privacy policy needs to be changed due to a new or changed service or offering. The new privacy policy then applies at your next visit to our service.
